Most of the Complex Fertilizer manufacturers
are resorting to coating of their products with
Anticaking Agents to eliminate the problems in storage
and handling, to keep up their product image and
offer the farmers a free flowing granular fertilizer.
However, the end users i.e. farmers are generally
assessing the fertilizer by appearance and of course
from their experience of end results after application.
Based on this they form a mind set to accept or
reject products based on appearance.
It is in this context that colouring of fertilizers
has come into vogue in fertilizer manufacture.
The advantages of colouring the fertilizers are
numerous but major ones are:
The product of a particular manufacturer gets
a unique identity.
High cost fertilizers become adulteration
proof
Raw material variations which in turn give
rise to colour variation of the end product
is not conducive for market identity. Colouring
very much helps for uniformity irrespective
of the nature of the material.
Some of the NPK manufacturers are using colouring
agents to impart a particular colour to their
product to acquire product identity.
All the above do improve the product image
and appeal.
